Miss Spott's Reading Program
Learning to read is one of the most valuable skills your child will ever acquire.  The goal of the Title I Reading Program is to provide experiences that develop skills which, in turn, enable students to achieve success in all areas of reading.  Your child's classroom teacher will continue to provide direct instruction and will be responsible for reading grades.  The Title I program is supplementary and will reinforce the comprehension, vocabulary, and language arts skills that are introduced in the regular classroom.

This year, we will be implementing a "push-in" program, in which students remain in their homeroom and the reading specialist is in the classroom during reading and language arts to assist students who may need extra help and to reinforce the skills being presented.

The benefits of this type of program are many.  One of the most important advantages is that students do not have to leave the room, so those who need extra help will not feel singled out.

We are excited about our new program and looking forward to working with you and your child.
