Student Reading Fun
There are many reasons to read.  You learn new information when you read.
You build a larger vocabulary and have more things to talk about when you read.
One of the best reasons to read, however, is to have fun and be entertained.
Below are some fun activities, as well as some great web sites to help you
become a better reader.  Have fun!

                                          Some Fun Reading Ideas

Work on crossword puzzles that are right for your age.  If you are not sure if
they are right for you, ask your parent or teacher.

Play "Scrabble", hangman, concentration, or other word games with your family
                       or friends

Make a comic strip of a book that you read.

After reading a book, write another chapter and change the ending.

Make a cassette recording of a favorite book.  Change your voice to sound
like the characters and make sure you use good expression.

Make puppets of some characters of a story you read and act out a play                                                     w ith your friends or family.

Cut pictures out of magazines and make a collage that describes a book
                      that you have read.

Make up a poem about a book you read.

Make a story cube.  Clean out and cover a small milk carton
(one from the cafeteria will work)  with white paper.  Draw and color all the
                       main ideas from a story.

Sit back, relax, and read about whatever interests you!
